Terms of Use
Last updated 30 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Deep Quiver, which operates The Round Society ("The Round Society", "we", "us"). They apply when you use the The Round Society website at theroundsociety.com, the early-access list, and the The Round Society league app (together, the "Service"). If you don't agree with them, don't use the Service.
How we handle personal data is covered separately in our Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms.
1. What The Round Society is
The Round Society is software for running a recreational golf league: rosters, schedules, hole-by-hole scoring, handicaps, standings, side games, league money records, and league history. It is offered in two ways:
- Round Society Hosted — we run the application and you use it over the web.
- Round Society Self-Hosted — you run your own installation on infrastructure you control. Where a self-hosted distribution is supplied with its own licence terms, those terms govern the software itself; these terms still cover your use of this website and the early-access list.
2. Pre-launch and early access
The Round Society is in active development and has not launched. The early-access list and any beta access are offered as-is, at no charge, and without a commitment to a launch date, a feature set, or a price. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, and we may end a beta at any time. We will give reasonable notice before doing anything that would remove access to data you have put into a hosted league.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
- Give accurate account information and keep it current.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your password or your Google sign-in secure. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.
- One person per account. Don't share a login with people who should each have their own.
4. Leagues, roles, and league data
A league is run by its commissioners, not by us. Within a league:
- Commissioners and administrators control the roster, the schedule, the rules, the money records, and who can see what. They can add, edit, and remove players and their scores.
- What you enter into a league is visible to that league as the league's settings determine — typically names, scores, standings, and tee times. Other members cannot see your email address; commissioners can.
- A league's data belongs to that league. We don't sell it, and we don't use one league's data to serve another. Every league is isolated from every other league.
- If you want your information changed or removed from a league, ask that league's commissioner first — they are the ones who control it. See the Privacy Notice for what you can ask us directly.
5. Money, dues, and side games
This matters, so it is stated plainly: The Round Society records money, it never moves money.
- Dues, payouts, winnings, skins, Nassaus, and player-to-player bets are bookkeeping entries. The app shows who owes what and who is owed what.
- We do not process payments. We are not a payment processor, an escrow service, a bank, a money transmitter, or a gambling operator. No card, bank account, or payment credential is ever collected for these records.
- Collecting dues and settling up happens between you, your league, and your commissioner, outside the Service, by whatever means you choose.
- You are responsible for making sure any wagering or side game you record is legal where you play. Features that track a bet are tracking tools, not an invitation to do anything unlawful.
- We are not responsible for a dispute about money within a league, or for a mistake in a figure someone typed in.
6. Handicaps and scores are not official
Handicap indexes, course handicaps, and net scores calculated by the Service are for your league's own competition. They are not USGA, WHS, or any other governing body's official handicap, they are not submitted to a handicap authority, and they should not be used where an official index is required. Your league chooses its own handicap and scoring settings, and results follow from those settings.
7. Acceptable use
Don't:
- access a league, account, or record you haven't been given access to, or try to;
- probe, scan, or interfere with the Service's security, or bypass a rate limit, login, or permission check;
- upload malware, or content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or infringing;
- scrape, resell, or bulk-extract other people's data from the Service;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your role in a league;
- use the Service to run a commercial gambling operation;
- place an unreasonable load on hosted infrastructure, or use it to send unsolicited email.
Security researchers: if you find a real vulnerability, tell us at [email protected] before telling anyone else, and don't access data that isn't yours while you look.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of what you put into the Service — scores, league names, logos, notes, and anything you write to us. You give us the permission we need to host, store, back up, display, and transmit it in order to run the Service for you and your league, and nothing more. If you send us a suggestion about the product, we may act on it without owing you anything for it.
9. Our content and brand
The Service, its software, design, and documentation are ours or our licensors'. "Round Society", "The Round Society", the Round Society mark, and the look and feel of the site are ours. These terms don't give you a licence to use them, beyond using the Service as intended.
10. Third-party services
The Service depends on a small number of third parties: Cloudflare (serving and protecting the site), Resend (email delivery), Google (optional Google Sign-In), and Google Analytics (website measurement on this marketing site). Their own terms apply to their own services, and we aren't responsible for what they do. See the Privacy Notice for what each one receives.
11. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service at any time, and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms, if it's needed to protect the Service or other users, or if we're legally required to. If we end your access without cause, we'll give you a reasonable chance to get a copy of your data first. League records held for a league's own history may survive the closure of an individual account, in de-identified form where we can.
12. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any score, handicap, standing, or money figure it calculates will be correct. Check anything that matters to your league. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost goodwill, arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50. Because the Service is currently offered free of charge, that cap will usually be US$50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of the way you used the Service — including the content you put into it, a league you ran, or money you collected outside the Service — you'll cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, to the extent the claim arises from your actions.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and post the new version here. If a change is significant, we'll give reasonable notice — by email or in the Service — before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in New Hampshire, and we each consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in a place whose law gives you the right to bring a claim locally, this section doesn't take that right away.
17. The rest
If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing something straight away doesn't waive it. You can't transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours as part of a merger, sale, or reorganisation. Together with the Privacy Notice, these terms are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
